Human liver has a pivotal role, and there are more than 500 liver function.Important functions such as to neutralize the toxins in the body, as the organ that controls are weak, amino acids and blood sugar levels, fight infection, food processing has been completed digested by the small intestine, and much more.

Liver function usually remains will run fine without the influence of common factors. However, some enemies that can cause liver damage among others due to excessive alcohol consumption, fatty liver and hepatitis virus that attacks the liver. Early examination of liver function can save the heart in order to continue to function properly.

Examination of Liver Function
Examination of liver function generally include Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartarte Aminotransferase (AST), Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT or Gamma GT), Bilirubin, Albumin, Prothrombin Mass Examination (PT) and International Normalized Ratio ( INR).
Each examination is a clue to find out if there are problems with liver function or not. Who want to know the results of examination of the foregoing are:

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and Aspartarte aminotransferase (AST)
Examination Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and Aspartarte aminotransferase (AST) aims to determine the inflammation that occurs in the body. High numbers usually be an indication of liver disorders. In patients with hepatitis, ALT values 20-50 times higher than in normal people. High AST values indicate a muscle disorder on one side of the body.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP)
Examination of Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aims to determine whether there is a blockage in the bile ducts.
Gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT or Gamma GT) Examination of Gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT or Gamma GT), intended as an indicator for the users of alcohol. GGT examination is usually performed in conjunction with the ALP examination to assure that the increase in ALP rates due to liver problems, not because of other factors.

Bilirubin
Bilirubin examination, aiming to determine levels of "yellow fever" because of liver disorders. A high figure illustrates that patients have the disorder usually characterized by the eyes and skin turn yellow.

Albumin
Albumin examination, aims to find decreased levels of albumin which is common in chronic liver disease. However, the decrease in albumin can also be caused by protein deficiency.

Mass Prothrombin (PT) and International Normalised Ratio (INR)
Mass examination of Prothrombin (PT) and International Normalised Ratio (INR), intended as an indication of whether the liver disease worse or not. Figures show an increase in chronic disease become progressively worse.

If there is suspicion the patient has liver cancer, it is necessary to do further tests. For example, examination of protein levels in the blood called alpha fetoprotein (AFP). The increase in the value of AFP suggests the severity of cancer that affects the liver, while decreasing the value of AFP showed menjinaknya for successful treatment of cancer. This examination is very important in cancer patients to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment being carried out. In patients with biliary cancer, the usual checks are CA 19-9 and CEA.

Avoid heartache by doing liver function tests before it is too late. :)
